Construction Safety Week starts

Secretary for Development Michael Wong today opened Construction Safety Week 2021 which will run until August 6.   Themed Safety x Smart Site, the event features a conference, visits to construction sites with exemplary safety performance, and the Considerate Contractors Site Award Scheme award presentation ceremony.   Addressing the launch ceremony, Mr Wong said innovation and technology is an important driving force for the construction industry’s development, and the Government has been actively promoting its application. He appealed to the industry to fully utilise the benefits of innovation and technology to raise construction safety, with a view to creating a safer and healthier working environment.   The ceremony was followed by the Construction Safety Week Conference, where local experts discussed emerging technologies, application of smart safety devices, and good practice for site safety improvement, attracting over 2,500 Hong Kong as well as overseas practitioners who participated at the venue or online.   A mini exhibition showcasing smart safety devices was also held at the venue.   Construction Safety Week is jointly organised by the Development Bureau and the Construction Industry Council.
